Christmas Placemats

Watch out Nigella! In France, adult colouring in books are outselling cookbooks, and the trend is spreading to the UK and US. From Mandala’s to movie stars, Maman’s are doodling away.

The science behind it… when colouring, we activate different areas of our two cerebral hemisepheres. By using both logic and creativity the relaxation it provides lowers the activity of the amygdala, a basic part of our brain involved in controlling emotion that is affected by stress. Simply put, colouring in is de-stressing as we focus on it and not on our problems, we slow down without constant screen time as we partake in this childhood activity.

With Christmas a mere x days away, are you prepping for your annual family get together. Awkard and rigid conversations no more! How’s about photocopying a few colouring in sheets as place mats, set the table, lay out the crayola and voila! Forgo the traditional Holly and Ho! Ho! And lay down some real conversation starters.
